A Manifesto from the community of Kokvitskaya Gora
Community project / Art book / 2021
A proposed public statement calling for a better quality of life for the residents of Kokvitskaya Gora, Komi Republic — developed collaboratively with the community.
The manifesto emerged from my research "Kokvitskaya Gora: The Process of Standing for Community Rights," which focused on the Komi community of Kokvitskaya Gora and their struggle for better living conditions.
After field research in the village, I proposed to residents that we create a collective manifesto — a public statement demanding improvements to the quality of life for the people of Kokvitskaya Gora. The form of the manifesto was chosen deliberately: not as a scientific observation, but as an invitation to collective authorship, a creative process that could give shape to shared demands.
The resulting art book is a collaborative work between local residents and myself as artist and facilitator. It documents both the final statement and the community conversations that shaped it.
